That is why we encourage scheduled visits (from half a day) to any small to medium sized company without onsite support staff.  We find that performing these routine visits creates a better relationship and understanding of your network system, reducing possible downtime.
During these visits our engineer(s) would undertake various tasks to ensure everything is running smoothly.  We are finding that this option is becoming a lot more popular recently as companies are struggling to pay the high wages of in-house IT staff.
